I appreciated the standard family room with a bath and good facilities. A hairdryer, a shower cap and bath sheets were very handy.
The service was good, even so some people working there were not so helpful.

The staff were attentive, especially during breakfast where everything was served quickly. The spa facilities were a lovely treat, and we loved our spacious executive double room with its fine river views. Plus, the afternoon tea was good!

The location and the river in front
There was a huge wedding we did not know about and the hotel was constantly busy, and noisy with the guests. We came to relax and instead we had to hear them all around! the spa mixed our bookings and we were booked for the wrong times and wrong treatments! The reception at least when we arrived was so busy with the wedding that we felt like we are no one there. After speaking to the hotel manager (Claire), she was very kind and helpful and were compensated for the poor services (Reception-wrong room type given to us, Spa-as mentioned, restaurant-waiting time for a sandwich of 45 min!) that we received. I suppose that if there was no wedding that weekend, we would of enjoy our stay a lot more!

Staff were excellent, hotel has lots of charactor, food really good.
Has just reopened after extensive damage from floods, some building work still going on.

The cleanliness was perfect; everything was spotless and in great order, which added to the overall comfort of my experience.
This was a minor inconvenience, but it slightly detracted from the otherwise good experience.

The hotel has a stunning river view and clean rooms, but the dining experience left something to be desired, especially the limited choices. Some areas felt dated, and service can be hit or miss. It was a pleasant stay with nice staff.

great stay but attention needed for noise
The staff proved to be highly attentive and ensured our needs were met promptly. The afternoon tea and dinner were excellent, with surprisingly quick service that was so great.
The noise from the nearby steam train could be distracting at times.
